Ruth Plunkett

Welcome

I am an established BACP (Accredited) and UKRCP Registered Counsellor working in Private Practice in a pleasant location in the centre of Cranbrook in Kent (see Location).

My practice is open to any individual who thinks that counselling or a period of informed personal guidance may be of benefit and is easily accessible by self-referral.

I offer varying levels of therapy constructed to meet the needs of most individuals, from those seeking to resolve a relatively minor issue - or wishing simply to talk something through with a conscientious but impartial third party - to others needing to form a deeper professional relationship in order to resolve more complex or longer standing problems.

My Approach

My approach to counselling is in part borne of an understanding of human nature and the world at large as being in a necessary state of perpetual change. Where the undercurrent of change is experienced as incompatible with a person’s living reality, then feelings of anxiety, depression, prolonged grief, over- indulgence, inadequate relationships, poor self-regard and so on are apt to be present. These are but a few of the common problems which an individual might seek help to understand and change through personal counselling.

My particular theoretic approach is informed by the humanistic, analytic and transpersonal psychologies and is adaptable according to the nature, needs and aptitude of each very different person. However, whilst some of you may wish to, it is not necessary for the new client to have any knowledge or understanding of any theoretic model for good or effective therapy to occur.

I welcome enquiries from adults and young people over 16 years of age.

As a Member of BACP,I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
